Gavin Newlands MP discusses Brexit concerns with Apple
Gavin Newlands, SNP MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, has visited the Apple store in Braehead to learn more about their educational programme aimed at upgrading the IT skills of those living in the local community.
Mr Newlands met with Nicky Brown, Store Leader at Apple Braehead and Sam Sharps, Government Affairs Manager for Apple UK, to learn more about their “Today at Apple” programme which provides a range of educational sessions from photography and video and music editing and coding.
During the meeting, Mr Newlands was also able to discuss other policy issues with Apple, including Brexit.
Gavin Newlands, SNP MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, said:
“I was grateful to Nicky and Sam for inviting me to the Apple store in Braehead to learn more about their business and their recently launched “Today at Apple” project which aims to deliver a range of free IT classes to the local community.
“From basic phone photography lessons to editing videos or music, this programme delivers a range of lessons that could benefit those less IT-savvy members of the local community.
“It was also worthwhile to hear from Apple about the ongoing Brexit negotiations. Many employers, including big inward investors like Apple, share my view that the UK Government should immediately guarantee the residency status of EU nationals. Businesses like Apple employ workers born all over Europe, and urgently need certainty on the status of the colleagues.”
